My story starts with my Graduation from Rembardou School Of Beauty in 1983. Whilst employed for an electrology company I continued at that college part time for a further year, earning my aesthetician qualification. Whilst there I learnt how to carry out advanced electrolysis under a very experienced teacher and gain invaluable experience with the LGBTQ+ community by working closely with transgender individuals.

After working there for 5 years, I set up my own business renting out of a gym for a year. Here I learnt through failure how not to run a business.

 

I was then employed in a hairdressing salon where I worked very closely with the business owner and managers about the fundamentals of running a successful business. Here I had fantastic opportunities where I was able to attend large exhibitions in London and do makeup on individuals there. I also learnt about things such as advertising and was able to increase my skills in general beauty, skincare & business.

 

After meeting my now husband I decided to move closer to home & worked under a business woman who rented a room in a salon/hairdressing environment. She required me to take over her business whilst she was on maternity leave, where I ran this successfully for a year until she came back, where I then got a second job working part-time at David Lloyds.

After the business woman decided to leave, I took over her practice, renting for free from the other business owner.

​

I Then started my family during which the building was unfortunately knocked down and redeveloped. Following from this I worked for 2 years in a beauty/sunbed salon where I learnt how to use emerging technologies in beauty. 

​

After working there for 2 years I moved even closer to home in Stoneleigh where I worked at a salon for 15 years. There I was able to have fantastic flexibility, fair retention of profits by having a great relationship with the business owner and was able to continually learn and adapt to the beauty industry. 

​

I was also introduced to Dermalogica's brand and was delighted with their educational program and the support they offer their therapists. 

​

After the Salon sadly had to close due to renting issues, I decided to set up my own business from my garage in my garden. I managed to take the majority of my very loyal customer base with me, and they have all been with me ever since. Whilst running Cathy's Cabin I have faced the adversity of surviving through Covid, learning the importance of social media marketing and how to run my business.

​

My clients remain very loyal to me because of my experience and my attentiveness towards always pleasing them. My experience from being a mum of 3 means I focus on the small things & going the extra mile to ensure they are always completely comfortable & relaxed. I know that by treating them to a free 5-minute hand massage (regarding I have the time) whilst having a relaxing conversation with them this makes them want to come back because I will always go that extra mile for them.

I feel truly blessed to have been able to share my ongoing relationship with my clients and I hope that I am able to create that with newer clients as well.
